My name is Ruben Lee Dela Cerna. I was brought into this world by Pacipeco and Antonia Dela Cerna on Feb. 21 1986 in Honolulu, Hawaii. I was raised in Ewa Beach with my two sisters and four brothers where I attended James Campbell High School. For most of high school, I had a part time job as a waiter at Wung Fu Chinese Kitchen in Mililani. I also played various sports such as football, judo, cross country, and canoe paddling until I graduated in 2004.
Four months after I graduated from high school I enlisted in the United States Army. I completed basic training and AIT at Ft Jackson, South Carolina. My MOS (job specialty) was 42A, Human Resources Specialist. Since my enlistment, I deployed to Kuwait from 2006-07 with the 456th Replacement Company in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After I came back from deployment, I changed my duty MOS to become the Chaplain Assistant for the 100th Battalion, 442d Infantry Regiment. I deployed with them in the Fall of 2009, and will be returning from the deployment in Summer 2009. At 22 years old I am blessed for the opportunities that have come my way and I look forward to each new day.
